Easy and simple Protein Balls
Easy and simple protein balls make the absolute best snack. They are quick to make, have simple nutritious ingredients and are so yummy for kids and adults! I’ll often make a big batch and freeze some in a few bags to easily pull out down the road.
This is a great recipe to get small and bigger kids involved too. Which I love. My three year old helped me make this batch and she had so much fun getting her hands in there and feeling all the different textures.
Ingredients
Rolled Oats.
Peanut butter. We like to use peanut butter that is just organic peanuts and salt.
Honey. Local honey would offer the most benefits.
Chocolate chips. We like to use allergy friendly ones like these.
Optional: protein or collagen powder, dye free sprinkles
Note: If you add protein or collagen powder subtract that amount from the oats. Sometimes I like to add some dye free sprinkles to change it up and make them fun for my kids.
instructions
- Put oats into a blender or food processor and blend for about a minute. This step is optional but makes the protein balls much more palatable for kids since there aren’t whole pieces of oats to chew. However, if your kids will eat whole oats, skip this step!
- Put all ingredients into a large bowl and mix together. It will be sticky but you should be able to roll them into a ball.
- Use a small cookie scoop to measure out your balls. Using your hands roll the blobs into prettier balls. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
- Place in refrigerator or freezer for about 30 minutes. Store them in an air tight container in the refrigerator.
