Best Autumn Housewarming Gift

I have given a few housewarming gifts to people I love throughout the years, but this autumn housewarming gift is by far the best. It is easy to put together quickly, you can most likely buy the pieces at your local grocery store, and its a sure hit for the new homeowner every time. Plus it looks super cute :).

I can get carried away (okay VERY carried away) when it comes to putting presents together for people. I absolutely love doing it and get excited every time I have a reason and budget for it! Sometimes (to my husbands dismay) the first thing I think when someone tells me they’re having a baby, getting married, or buying a new home is ‘YAY! I get to put together a gift basket!’. If money were not an issue I would be putting together gift baskets left and right. You got a new car? Here’s a car themed gift basket! New hair cut? I think you definitely need this hair care basket. You have to have a colonoscopy???!!?! You for sure need this care package gift basket… maybe two… I would be out of control. Good thing my husband is our CFO and keeps me in budget ;).

how to Give the perfect gift every time

It is extremely fun to do though. Especially for the people in your life that you adore and love. My sister in law is an amazing gift giver. She literally wears herself out each Christmas coming up with the perfect gifts for everyone on her check list. She has a huge heart and a true talent for picking the perfect gifts. If you’re like her, you’re an amazing person! I’m not so talented… sometimes I get the perfect gift and sometimes what I thought was the perfect gift sits on my husbands desk… unopened… collecting dust…

If you’re not the perfect gift giver but you want the perfect housewarming gift, you’ve come to the right place! This simple yet elegant gift is easy to buy, easy to put together beautifully, and will make the new homeowner smile from ear to ear.

Materials

  • Medium to large plate, platter, or basket. I bought a large plate/platter from my local grocery store in solid white.
  • Cute new kitchen towel. I also bought this from my local grocery store. They had trendy autumn towels out and I snagged one that had a cute homey saying on it. Even just a solid color towel would work though.
  • Loaf of homemade bread (this is the recipe for the bread pictured) or crusty bread from the store. If you want to nerd out on the best breads to dip in oil this is a great post on it.
  • Dipping oils like this one. Something like these would be great too. Or you can make your own by following a recipe like this one and getting cute glass bottles like these.
  • Tissue paper. I had some leftover tissue paper that had autumn wild flowers on it, but any tissue paper would work.
  • Twine like this.
  • Little fake flowers and/or foliage (I got mine at the dollar store)
  • Cute ribbon to tie on bread. I used ribbon that has wire in it so the bow would stand up, but any ribbon will work and be beautiful.

Instructions

Gather all materials.

Wrap dipping oils in tissue paper. I wanted my friend to be able to read the labels on the oils so I wrapped the backs with tissue paper and secured it with twine.

Wrap and the bread with your ribbon and tie a bow.

Place kitchen towel in the middle of your platter. Mine had a saying that I wanted my friend to be able to read so I left that hanging off the edge slightly.

Place bread on one side of the platter. Arrange oils on the other side of the platter in a slightly angled line.

Use little fake flowers and/or foliage to fill in the gaps. I like to stick them in between the bread and the oils, a little on the top, and then anywhere that I feel looks like it’s missing something. You may need to play around with this a little until it looks right to you.
