Easy Blueberry Lemonade

Fresh squeezed lemonade is absolutely the best. The only thing better might be this easy blueberry lemonade recipe.

The weather this year made blueberry picking season a little short, but we still were able to get out there and get quite a few! My kids loved tying a bucket around their waists and seeing how many berries they could get in them. While my two year olds bucket had some extra things in it and lots of blueberries that weren’t quite ready to be picked, she was adorable and had so much fun. I love that picking berries is a fun chore that the whole family can do together.

The best part of berry picking (besides just eating the fresh berries of course) is making blueberry lemonade! This recipe is so easy and sooooo yum. I love using fresh picked berries for lemonade, but store bought or frozen work perfectly too.

Ingredients

  • Blueberries
  • Lemons
  • Sugar
  • Water

Instructions

Juice about eight lemons to make two cups (or so) of fresh squeezed lemon juice. If you have a little more or less lemon juice it is okay. This recipe makes a pretty tart lemonade so if that is not your taste, you might want more like 1.5 cups lemon juice.

In a blender, blend two cups blueberries, half to one cup sugar (we use cane sugar), and one cup water. If you like sweeter lemonade go for the whole cup of sugar. I’m not going to lie… the sugar pairs so well with the sour lemons I will add a whole cup a lot of the time. But if you are trying to cut sugar, a half cup still tastes wonderful.

If you do not want blueberry pieces in you lemonade strain the juice before adding the rest of the ingredients. My kids do not enjoy the pieces or the pulp from the lemons so I actually strain the lemon juice and the blueberry juice.

Mix lemon juice, blueberry juice, and the rest of the water (about 2-3 cups) until combined. Taste to see if you need to add more sugar or water then store in the refrigerator.

When serving I like to add some frozen blueberries.
